I ask the Senedd to amend the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 so that keeping a companion animal is a default legal right for all tenants.
It’s near impossible to find properties in Wales that allow pets, despite being a pet friendly country.
I ask for properties to be considered pet-friendly by default and landlords should only be allowed to restrict a pet if they can provide a concrete, legally justifiable reason to the Senedd’s housing authorities.
More details
Only about 7% to 8% of private rented properties in Wales are formally advertised as pet-friendly.
