Question
Will the Cabinet Minister confirm if neupulse neuromodulation devices, used for the management of Tourette's syndrome and chronic tic disorders, are currently being assessed or included on any national procurement, funding, or distribution lists for NHS Wales?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Care, Mental Health and Women’s Health (Delyth Jewell)
Neupulse neuromodulation devices are not currently included on any national procurement, funding or distribution lists for NHS Wales. The technology is, however, subject to ongoing evidence generation through a National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Early Value Assessment published in May 2025. NICE has advised that, following a three-year evidence generation period, the available evidence will be reviewed to determine whether the technology is suitable for routine adoption within the NHS. Information published by the manufacturer also indicates that the device is subject to ongoing development as it continues to progress through regulatory and evidence-generation processes.
