Question
Will the Cabinet Minister rule out giving asylum seekers the vote during this Senedd term?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Equality (Sioned Williams)
Qualifying foreign nationals, including those with refugee status, are currently entitled to register to vote in Senedd and local government elections in Wales provided they meet the other registration requirements. We have no plans to amend the franchise to devolved elections in this Senedd term.
