Question
What action is the Minister taking in conjunction with relevant authorities to alleviate the parking situation in Snowdonia National Park this summer?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Economy
My officials have been engaging regularly with Snowdonia National Park Authority (SNPA) and the local authorities in North Wales to discuss the plans for parking and other visitor services at important and popular beauty spots.
The Welsh Government has provided more than £1.5m from the Covid Recovery Fund and Sustainable Landscapes for Snowdonia in 2020-22 to improve resilience and visitor experience and to continue to prepare for the busy summer period. This includes additional visitor-facing staff, park-and-ride trials, and innovative visitor information. Further work is ongoing to develop a more sustainable travel model for this area. SNPA also had access to the local government hardship fund that has been used in part to alleviate parking issues.
