Question
Will the Minister provide a breakdown of dental treatment backlogs as of June 2021, by local health board and treatment function, along with funding which has been provided to tackle the waiting list?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Information on the number of patients waiting to access primary care general dental services is not held by Welsh Government. This information will be held by those health boards who chose to operate a data base of patients seeking NHS dentistry.
Health boards have responsibility for local commissioning and control of their own dentistry budgets to provide NHS dental care to meet local needs and the wider oral health agenda. To help meet ongoing Covid-19 costs Welsh Government have so far in 2020-21 provided additional financial support of £100m for health board local planned care recovery plans and £170m for NHS local response plans.
