Question
What measures is the Welsh Government and local health boards undertaking to increase and monitor influenza vaccination uptake among health, social care and domiciliary care staff, including non-clinical and agency staff, during winter 2021-22?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Public Health Wales, with Welsh Government support, is co-ordinating planning for all elements of the 2021/22 flu season. This work includes establishing a Flu and Covid-19 social care group, whose membership includes a wide range of key stakeholders such as Care Inspectorate Wales, the Association of Directors of Social Services, and representatives from care homes, domiciliary care, and assisted living organisations. The group meet monthly, and are working together to strengthen the social care programme this year and to encourage greater uptake. Similarly, uptake of flu vaccine amongst healthcare workers is an identified work stream in the flu prevention co-ordinating group work plan, and a sub-group has been established to help strengthen this programme.
