Written question WQ83042

The Commission is currently investigating the possibility of introducing a salary sacrifice scheme for employees, following the reduction in the benefit-in-kind (BiK) tax rates for the lease of electric vehicles through such schemes. Discussions with prospective suppliers are ongoing. Officials have also liaised with other organisations who have implemented similar schemes. It will be important to clearly understand the HMRC position to ensure any offering will provide a benefit to both staff and the Commission.

The Senedd Commission supports the uptake of electric vehicles by Senedd employees as a means of contributing to reducing its carbon footprint. The Commission’s new Carbon Neutral Strategy commits to increasing the number of charge points on the estate to ensure this low-carbon mode of transport is as accessible as possible.

The Commission already provides electric vehicle charging points on the Cardiff Bay estate, and operates an electric pool car.
