Question
Will the Minister provide up-to-date data on the holistic set of key performance indicators that are used to monitor the Mbale tree planting programme?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Social Justice
Our partners use key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the scheme. Tree distribution, diversity, establishment and survival rates of the agroforestry planting are determined through direct staff surveying, and through this data collection, tree nursery and staff performance is also evaluated. The project has improved its data collection in recent years. In 2020 a capital investment allowed the system to be upgraded, and this is now being rolled out.
Our partners also monitor equipment bought, seed purchased, local seed collected, nursery sowing, potting, stock ready for distribution, gender equality within the tree nursery operator network, and distribution of trees to women and youth.
