Question
Will the Minister outline what investment and support the Welsh Government has given to shopping centres in South Wales West?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Economy
The Welsh Government has made unprecedented levels of funding available to support Welsh businesses through the pandemic. To date we have provided more than £2.5bn in financial support, safeguarding over 160,000 Welsh jobs. Shopping Centres were eligible to receive funding through the emergency grants made available. In addition, the £380m business rates relief package announced on 3 March provides retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with rateable values up to £500k, and charities in Wales with a straightforward year-long business rates holiday.
Regeneration Officials are working closely with local authorities to understand any support and/or financial assistance they may require through the Transforming Towns programme in order to support the Shopping Centres in their towns.
