Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the 2021 A-Level and vocational results in North Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
This year’s A-level and vocational results reflects the huge amount of work achieved by our learners, in challenging and unique circumstances. The overall outcomes in Wales are similar to those across the UK, representing a level playing field for our learners.
For A-levels there was an increase in the top grades awarded to all groups of learners. The picture for north Wales is consistent with national changes and some regional analysis is included in Qualification Wales’s summer results summary.
For vocational qualifications at level 3, there was a very small reduction in top grades awarded through centre determined grades. As vocational qualifications do not share common grade scales is it is not possible to produce overall aggregate outcomes for vocational qualifications in the same way as is the case for general qualifications, and regional analysis of vocational results is not available.
These results will provide learners with an opportunity to progress on their chosen journey in education, training or work.
