Question
With regard to WQ83102, will the Minister provide an update on the outcome of the phosphate rivers planning sub-group's meeting on 8 September 2021, along with publishing the estimates of planning applications placed on hold?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
The Special Area of Conservation Phosphate Rivers Planning Sub-Group meets regularly to discuss and co-ordinate the town and country planning aspects of the wider phosphate targets issue.
Topics discussed at the meeting on 8 September included phosphate calculators, nutrient management boards, guidance on ‘additionality’ and work in respect of local development plan (LDP) preparation in Flintshire and Wrexham.
To date, four of the six affected authorities have provided data. Approximately 500 planning applications are on hold, which equates to some 620 housing units of which 155 would be affordable. The applications include around 40 commercial developments, 50 tourism projects and 35 agricultural developments.
