Question
What support will the Welsh Government make available to those who represent Wales playing touch rugby?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
Welsh Government financial support for sport in Wales is administered by Sport Wales. The Federation of International Touch (FIT) is the international governing body for touch rugby, of which many countries are members. Membership of FIT allows for participation in international tournaments.
Sport Wales does not provide direct funding to FIT or to individual Welsh touch rugby athletes. Touch rugby clubs are eligible to apply for support and Sport Wales has awarded £16,855 to clubs over the last two years via its Community investment schemes.
