Question
What action is the Welsh Government taking to ensure schools are regularly cleaned as a precaution against COVID-19?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The Local Infection Control Decision Framework for schools sets out the core measures all schools should continue to have in place at all risk levels, this includes appropriate cleaning regimes.
The Framework states that schools should maintain appropriate levels of cleaning in line with other communicable diseases. We no longer expect schools to have to set aside specific days for deep cleaning. However, if there is a confirmed cluster associated with one class in the school, we recommend that a deep clean of the immediate area will continue to be helpful in reducing transmission of COVID-19. The Hardship Fund continues to provide support for additional costs incurred relating to appropriate levels of cleaning in schools, in line with the Infection Control Decision Framework.
