Question
Will the Minister provide a breakdown of the number of school nurses in Wales from 2010, broken down by year, area and nurses per pupil?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
The number of pupils in maintained schools by local authority can be found here: https://statswales.gov.wales/v/Kfin
NHS Staff data for nurses is available on StatsWales: https://statswales.gov.wales/Catalogue/Health-and-Social-Care/NHS-Staff/Non-Medical-Staff/nursingmidwiferyandhealthvisitingstaff-by-grade-areaofwork-year
Please note that school nurses figure in several of the ‘registered nurses’ groups (in particular ‘other 1st level nurses’) as well as ‘qualified school nurses’.
A number of data quality issues have been identified with the data. This mostly affects some of the more detailed staff breakdowns. Full details are provided in the statistical report.
