Question
What discussions has the Welsh Government had with the UK Government regarding the establishment of a new Wales board as recommended by the Welsh Affairs Select Committee report on rail infrastructure in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Following the UK Government’s response to the WAC report published on the 16th September my officials have engaged with Department for Transport Officials to progress discussions on how a “Senior Level Board” will be established. The terms of reference are still being developed, however I would hope that the first meeting of this new structure will take place early in the New Year.
I have always stressed in my meetings with UK Ministers that this arrangement must be based on real partnership and collaboration to ensure that the rail infrastructure needs in Wales are identified, agreed, and delivered.
