Question
What percentage of dentistry practices in Wales are accepting new NHS patients?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Welsh Government does not hold data on the percentage of dental practices accepting and providing appointments for new NHS patients. These data will vary as access to dental services fluctuates, being dependent on the capacity of individual practices, contractual commitments and at the present time the consequences of the pandemic.
However, we have worked with Health Boards to ensure that as part of the Covid-19 recovery of dental services, measures have been included to ensure all dental practices see new patients. In addition the funding I’ve made available to Health Boards will increase the provision of dental appointments for NHS patients.
