Question
How will the Welsh Government explore the potential for a National School for Government and what costs assessments and governance structures will be reviewed?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Finance and Local Government
The vision of a ‘One Welsh Public Service’ is a long-standing aim of the Welsh Government, and is the focus of Academi Wales: the Welsh Government’s centre for excellence in public leadership and management, delivering learning and leadership programmes and events for the public service in Wales.
Building on research carried out in 2018, Academi Wales will begin exploring the potential for a National School for Government considering areas related to world class governance, governing small and bilingual nations, public administration and research and development in leading edge public services. This is an opportunity to look in detail at the infrastructure that is in place, both within and outside government, to support the learning and development of public service leaders who will deliver public services for future generations.
This work will be carried out in collaboration with the Plaid Cymru designated lead member, as part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.
