Question
Will the Minister outline what work has been done so far to create the Museum of North Wales?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
Amgueddfa Cymru is developing the Museum of North Wales as part of the redevelopment of the National Slate Museum in Llanberis. As a Programme for Government commitment, appropriate governance for the project is being agreed with Amgueddfa Cymru.
Progress so far includes a consultation undertaken in conjunction with Cyngor Gwynedd. It was published on the Museum’s website at the beginning of October providing an opportunity for the public to share their aspirations for the re-developed site. The consultation received more than 400 responses.
Amgueddfa Cymru has commissioned consultants to undertake a feasibility study, which is scheduled for completion in January 2022. The findings of the feasibility study will form the basis of further funding applications and the development of the business case.
I will continue to keep Members informed of milestone developments.
