Question
What steps has the Welsh Government taken to introduce a green hydrogen strategy for Wales, to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to deliver hydrogen for vehicles and home heating?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Green hydrogen produced electrolitically from renewables could provide one of the few emission free ways to decarbonise our heavy industry and the harder-to-abate modes of transportation and heating.
Infrastructure priorities for green hydrogen development are set-out in the Hydrogen in Wales: A pathway and next steps for developing the hydrogen energy sector in Wales report and were reinforced by a subsequent public consultation, published earlier this year.
Our commitment to green hydrogen and the steps we are taking to explore and develop its use in Welsh homes and businesses is also set out in Net Zero Wales: Carbon Budget 2 (2021-2025).
