Question
How many fixed penalty notices for recycling offences have been issued in Cardiff in each of the last five years?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Finance and Local Government
Wales has achieved one of the highest municipal recycling rates in the world through partnership between the Welsh Government, local authorities and citizens across the country. Our latest municipal recycling rate of 65.4%, published earlier this Winter has not only exceeded the statutory minimum target of 64%, but represents a record level for Wales, despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic.
Local authorities have used a number of methods to engage with citizens to encourage recycling from using the ‘Be Mighty. Recycle’ campaign to enforcement where appropriate. I would encourage you to contact Cardiff Council regarding specific actions that have been taken there as they will hold this information.
