Question
What consideration has the Minister given to replicating England's red bag scheme for care homes?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Services
We do not currently have plans to introduce a red bag scheme for care homes in Wales however we will ensure that any advantages posed by the scheme are considered in exploring opportunities for smooth admission and re-admission.
An additional £25m recurring national funding will support Health Boards and NHS Trusts to deliver the national six goals for urgent and emergency care programme, which will explore opportunities to better coordinate care and support for people at greater risk of needing urgent care, as well as supporting individuals to return home from hospital when ready, taking a proactive approach to reducing readmission.
