Question
What is the Welsh Government doing to support Welsh athletes ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
Using the funding provided by the Welsh Government, Sport Wales works in close partnership with NGBs to promote success for Wales on the world stage through a holistic approach to developing athletes. This includes awarding financial resource, providing science and medicine services, and providing dedicated, specialist performance advice. Sport Wales promotes collaboration between sports, bringing people together for the long term.
The wider work in governance, people development, and relationship management that Sport Wales does with its partners ensures they are well placed to provide a good athlete development experience and prepare athletes for success on the world stage.
