Question
How is the Welsh Government working with pharmacies and other businesses to ensure that lateral flow tests are available for purchase?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
On 4 March, the Welsh Government published its COVID-19 Transition Plan - Together for a Safer Future.
As our plan sets out, free lateral flow tests will continue to be available for symptomatic people and those who are clinically vulnerable and their visitors. People working in health and social care will also receive free lateral flow tests for regular asymptomatic testing.
There is no expectation that anyone should need to pay for tests if they are symptomatic although it is our understanding that some retailers, including some pharmacies, will stock LFDs for sale.
The Test, Trace, Protect (TTP) Transition Plan will continue until the end of June. During that period we will monitor the public health situation and make decisions about the future of testing from July onwards.
