Question
Will the Government explain why there is no systematic guidance for analysing additional learning needs data provisions?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The majority of Welsh Government additional learning needs data is collected via the pupil level annual school census (PLASC). Welsh Government publishes technical completion notes which provides guidance to support headteachers of maintained schools and local authorities to comply with their statutory requirement to provide information about pupils. The technical completion notes for 2022 contains a section which introduced the new data codes as a result of the implementation of the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018.
