We are working across government and with stakeholders to assess the need for a level 7 solicitor apprenticeship, and the likely impacts and added value it would offer the legal sector in Wales.

We cannot commit public money unless and until we are confident there would be additionality over existing routes into the legal professions and any investment would represent good value for public money. We will not support displacement activity and the re-badging of existing qualifications.

We expect that this needs analysis will be undertaken in collaboration with the legal sector over the coming months.
