Question
What steps is the Welsh Government taking to ensure a remediation programme takes place at Maendy Quarry?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is the regulatory body responsible for identifying whether there is a requirement for remediation at this site. My officials have liaised with the council and I understand that, based on the available information concerning potential pollution risks, they do not currently intend to inspect or remediate the site under Part IIA of Environmental Protection Act 1990. If you have any further questions regarding the council’s decision, I would recommend you contact it directly.
