Question
What discussions has the Minister had with Oil4Wales regarding the initiative to provide free oil supplies this winter to some of the most vulnerable people in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Oil4Wales attended a meeting hosted by the Minister for Social Justice on 26 May to discuss measures available as part of Welsh Government cold weather resilience planning.
As a result of the meeting, on 10 June, we announced £4m for the Fuel Bank Foundation to deliver a fuel voucher and Heat Fund scheme in Wales. It will support people at risk of self-disconnection who have to pre-pay for their fuel. This includes support for those using pre-payment meters and off-grid households which have to bulk buy fuel but do not have the finances to afford to top up their tank.
This is in addition to the financial support available through the Discretionary Assistance Fund to vulnerable households struggling to pay for their fuel this winter.
