Question
Will the Minister confirm what checks are taking place to ensure that rail replacement companies are providing frequent enough services to keep up with increasing demand ?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Transport for Wales (TfW) have a contract in place to provide replacement services when rail services are cancelled due to infrastructure works. As a baseline the contract seeks to provide the same number of rail replacement buses as the number of trains that would normally operate. Additionally TfW review passenger loading data and engage with local teams to assess potential demand for replacement services on a case by case basis.
