Question
Will the Minister provide an exhaustive list of those consulted by the Welsh Government as part of the process of creating the requirement of 10 per cent tree coverage for farms in Wales, as part of eligibility for the sustainable farming scheme?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd
I published outline proposals for the Sustainable Farming Scheme in July 2022. As part of preparing farmers for the Scheme, I want to hear their views and thoughts to ensure the actions and processes proposed are inclusive, practical and achievable. I therefore launched our second phase of co-design alongside the Scheme publication. I would encourage farmers to complete our co-design survey which is open until the end of October 2022.
There have also been three consultations on future farm support in Wales. A summary of responses to these consultations is available on our website. I will consult on our final proposals to introduce the Sustainable Farming Scheme in 2023.
