Question
Will the Minister provide details on the percentage increase and decrease of literacy levels of adults in Wales since the 2011 release of data?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
Employer Skills Survey results can be found here: Employer Skills Survey: 2019 | GOV.WALES. The Employer Skills Survey provides data on whether employers can access the skills they need, including skills linked to literacy. The 2022 Employer Skills Survey is currently in the field, with data available in 2023.
I recognise that there is a need to capture fresh information on the literacy levels of adults in Wales and we are currently examining options that will offer a means for capturing robust information in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.
