Question
What is the Welsh Government doing to support equestrian sports in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
Through Sport Wales, the Be Active Wales Fund has provided funding to 15 community equestrian clubs, investing a total of £88,886 since the scheme was introduced in 2020.
The Welsh Government also provided direct support to the horse racing industry to survive the Covid pandemic. Funding of £1.7m was awarded through the Spectator Sports Fund, which was shared between the three racecourses in Wales (Chepstow, Ffos Las and Bangor-on-Dee).
