Question
Will the Minister confirm which unions will be taking part in the World of Work Pilot Project?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
Careers and work-related experiences is a cross-cutting theme throughout the Curriculum for Wales. It will inspire learners to develop an understanding of the purpose of work in life, both for themselves and for society as a whole, and develop resilience and the ability to be adaptable in response to the challenges, choices and responsibilities of work and life. There are a range of existing programmes of work which facilitate and support schools’ collaboration with employers and businesses to support careers and work-related experiences, and this pilot will complement that ongoing engagement.
The following unions have been invited to attend the Steering Group due to their involvement in similar projects across the UK, to learn from their expertise and advice on the pedagogy and quality of delivery: National Education Union, NASUWT, National Association of Head Teachers, UCAC, Unite.
All the affiliated unions in Wales are supportive of the project as it has been approved by the Wales TUC General Council, which is the representative body of all affiliate unions.
