Question
What action has the Welsh Government taken since May 2021 to engage with the department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to ensure that work on the development of a non-pipeline transport model for CO2 export reflects the needs of Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
We have engaged extensively at Ministerial and official level to stress the need for BEIS to consider Welsh industry when developing carbon capture transportation and storage business models. The UK Government’s current focus on pipeline solutions and associated business models risks placing the industries based in south Wales at a particular disadvantage compared to other areas.
