Question
What action is the Welsh Government taking to support engineering projects in Wales that grow the carbon storage industry?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
The capture and storage of CO2 should be a last resort after all efforts have been made to prevent emissions at source. We are supportive of industries that require CO2 storage and will impress on the UK Government the need for viable business models. However, given the risks and uncertainties associated with storage of carbon, and the lack of evidence we have any viable storage outside the Liverpool Bay area, it is not an industry we are focussed on growing in Wales.
