Question
Will the Minister review planning law so that hotels in Wales cannot be used as houses of multiple occupancy without securing a change of use?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Planning law already requires planning permission for a change of use from a hotel to a use as a house in multiple occupancy, where that change is material in planning terms. What is material is a matter of fact and degree in each case and is informed by any change in character of the use of the land.
