Question
Will the First Minister set out the details of the new 'machinery for inter-governmental relations' that he said he and the Prime Minister discussed?
Answer
Answered by First Minister (Mark Drakeford)
The Review of Intergovernmental Relations sets out the agreed machinery and was published in January 2022.
The machinery comprises 3 tiers:
• Top Tier (the Prime Minister and Heads of Devolved Governments Council – ‘the Council’);
• Middle Tier (the Interministerial Standing Committee – ‘IMSC’; the Finance Interministerial Standing Committee – ‘F:ISC’); and
• Tier 1 (Portfolio level Interministerial Groups – ‘IMGs’).
Further details, including the function and scope of each meeting can be found within the published Review (Review of intergovernmental relations - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
