Question
Will the Minister provide more information, including timelines, governance and structure, about the integrated community care service as discussed in the response to the short debate on health and social care on 11 January 2023?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Strengthening the capacity of health and social care services in the community will be a priority over the coming months. The extra community step-down beds that the NHS and local government have delivered this winter have been essential. We will build on this and focus, ahead of next winter, on community care for older people and those living with frailty.
To do this the Welsh Government will work with our partners to develop a service and workforce model based on the evidence of best practice that has emerged from the Integrated Care Fund, the Transformation Fund, and the new Regional Integration Fund.
Initial work has commenced in order to develop the programme governance arrangements and structure, and I will update members when those have been established.
