Question
What progress is the Welsh Government making in meeting its target of 70 percent of Wales’s electricity demand from Welsh renewable electricity sources by 2030?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Our annual Energy Generation in Wales reports contain information on our progress towards targets. In 2021, renewables in Wales generated the equivalent of 55% of our electricity use. The latest report is published here: Energy generation in Wales: 2021 | GOV.WALES
Our consultation on reviewing our energy targets, and its supporting evidence, describes progress to date, the existing pipeline of projects and an illustrative path to achieve both the 2030 target and the equivalent of 100% of Wales’ annual electricity consumption in 2035.
