Question
Will the Minister provide an update on progress made in meeting the 16 actions in the health board action plan from September 2021 that was produced following the visit of the president of the Royal College of Physicians to the Grange University Hospital in June 2021?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
The Royal College of Physicians’ (RCP) report of June 2021 made a number of recommendations about staffing, recruitment, safety and patient flows which Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) sought to address in an action plan. In December 2021, the RCP produced a short follow up report which was positive about the progress being made. I wrote to all Members at the time to highlight this further report.

Since these reports, ABUHB has also been working closely with Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) to address, in detail, issues relating to medical training and education. HEIW made further recommendations which are being implemented by the health board.
