Question
How many orthopaedic surgeries have been outsourced to third-party organisations over the last five years, providing a breakdown of each year, and what have the annual costs been for these out-sourced surgeries?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Welsh Government does not hold this level of detail. Health boards are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate service delivery to meet the needs of their local population.
Where health boards do not have sufficient capacity, they are able to commission additional activity from alternative providers and this is at the discretion of the organisation as part of their delivery plans.
