Question
What funding is the Welsh Government making available to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and what is the breakdown of that funding?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
£100,269 has been made available to the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Wales in 2022-23 via the Strategic Voluntary Youth Work Organisation (SVWYO) grant. As part of this two-year grant, the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Wales has been awarded £102,251 in 2023-24. Grant recipients have also recently been contacted to offer them the opportunity to apply for continued funding for a third year (2024-25).
The SVYWO (formerly the National Voluntary Youth Organisation Grant) provides core funding to support voluntary youth organisations to provide and develop quality youth work opportunities for young people in Wales aged 11 to 25. Over £726,000 in total has been allocated to the grant in 2022-23.
