Question
Will the Minister confirm whether the Welsh Government will now reconsider its previous decision not to take over the historic Rhydymwyn Valley works site in Flintshire from the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to ensure that local communities and the wider public can benefit from it?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
I recognise the importance of the site to the local community and its historic significance with parts of the site being either scheduled as monuments of national importance or listed as buildings of special architectural or historic interest. No recent approach has been made from the owner of the site for the Welsh Government to reconsider its position on ownership. If such an approach were to be made, we would follow the current procedures that are in place to assess whether future ownership of the site by Welsh Ministers would be beneficial.
