Question
What is the Welsh Government doing to ensure there is appropriate dyslexia screening in schools?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
To address variation in the way pupils are assessed and help teachers understand the difficulties faced by learners with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties (SpLD), we have published an SpLD Framework and accompanying guidance on screening, assessment and intervention.
There is a section within the SpLD Framework to help teachers identify learners who may have dyslexia and make appropriate adjustments to teaching practice and school/classroom environments, so these learners do not risk falling behind other pupils in their class.
