Question
Will the Minister publish the letter of comfort for 20mph funding?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
The following letter was sent out to all Council Leaders on the 3rd April 2023.
“I am writing to provide you with a letter of comfort on behalf of the Welsh Government regarding the grant for the implementation of our 20MPH legislation.
We understand that the timescales for delivery are challenging, and we want to assure you that the Welsh Government is committed to providing the grant support to cover the costs of implementation.
However, formal grant award letters may not come until later in April. This letter is intended to provide you assurance that the grant will be forthcoming and allow work to continue.
I want to thank you for your continued partnership in delivering the 20MPH default speed limit.
We hope that this letter of comfort provides you with the assurance you need, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to support your vital work.
It is intended that all other transport grant offer letters will be sent out by the end of April. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us”.
