Question
Further to WQ87379, will the Minister clarify whether she has received any representations from service users that there is a specific issue in relation to sufficient staff members able to provide patch pain relief?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
The First Minister and I have received correspondence from members of the public on waiting times for pain services and pain patch provision specifically, rather than in relation to sufficient staff members being able to provide patch pain relief.
As you are aware, Welsh Ministers and government officials cannot intervene in the care of individual patients. We have provided advice regarding how to raise concerns with health boards as decisions about access to treatment are a matter for the clinical teams responsible for a patient’s care.
In relation to the wider issues relating to waiting times for patch pain relief, my officials are working with health boards and clinicians to review services, including any workforce issues and specific treatments.
