Question
What is Welsh Government doing to attract sporting events to North Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Economy
In line with the national events Strategy for Wales we are working to support indigenous, as well as attract international, events to all parts of Wales whether they are business, sporting or cultural.
We work strategically with a wide range of stakeholders to attract major sporting events to North Wales and we have already seen many successful events held such as the Anglesey half marathon, Tour de Mon Cycle Sportive, Tour of Britain, and the World Mountain Running Championships.
In 2027 we look forward to welcoming the Island Games to North Wales and there are a number of future sporting events currently under discussion.
