Question
Will the Minister confirm how many homes in Wales are registered as second homes rather than primary residences?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
The number of second homes in Wales forecast as being liable for council tax is reported on StatsWales. The estimated number for 2023-24 is 24,170 (1.7% of all chargeable homes).
Census 2021 collected information on people using a second address for more than 30 days a year. Data on the location and purpose of these second addresses will be published by ONS on 20 June.
