Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the financial impact of rural crime in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd
The statistics surrounding rural crime, which are needed to ascertain financial impacts, are not reported to or held by the Welsh Government.
There are also inherent challenges in defining and quantifying rural crime as it includes a broad range of both recordable and non-recordable offences. Rural crime incorporates rural-specific offences as well as those that also occur within urban areas. These factors contribute to the complexity.
