Question
How many passengers were eligible for compensation claims under Transport for Wales’s delay repay scheme for each month in 2022 and for each month in 2023 to date?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Transport for Wales have informed me that it is not possible to calculate how many passengers are eligible to receive delay repay compensation who then do not claim for this compensation. Only a small percentage of tickets are sold for dedicated trains with the majority sold on an ‘open’ basis, therefore data isn’t held on which specific train a passenger has travelled on and whether they are then eligible for compensation.
The table below shows the most recent data available in 2023 and all of 2022 for Delay Repay claims received and approved by Transport for Wales. This information is also available via their website - Delay Repay | TfW
