Question
Will the Minister confirm the expected cost to the electric vehicle sector of meeting the 55,000 fast charger and 4,000 rapid charger demand by 2030?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
The Welsh Government is focussed on facilitating private sector investment across Wales - prioritising on-route and destination chargers.
We expect most charging infrastructure to be delivered by the private sector and will target public investment where there are gaps in provision.
To meet the expected requirement of c. 8,300 on-route and destination fast and rapid chargers, we estimate that the public and private sectors combined will invest around £386m by 2030.
This will deliver a total capacity of 286,000kW, across more than 1,300 sites.
